30th June 2020

Dear families,

We hope that you are healthy and well. We are writing to you to outline the arrangements for the final few weeks of this unusual summer term.

It has been very rewarding to see groups of children able to access some support and learning onsite and we are pleased that we have been able to do this safely and in line with all guidance. Thank you to those families who have supported the new arrangements; your patience and support has been appreciated.

We now have had pupils from Reception, Year 1, Year 5, Year 6, Year 9 and Year 10 in school for various periods of time, and we are keen to offer the opportunity for all pupils to meet with their coach in school before the summer break now that the government guidance allows this.

Therefore, we are inviting all families in Year 6 to Year 11 to attend a Meet Your Coach Day during the final week of term. For Reception to Year 5, there will be appointments made over the remaining weeks of this term.

Meet Your Coach – Reception to Year 5

For the children in Reception to Year 5, coaches will contact families to invite them to come into a Covid secure space to have a Meet Your Coach appointment to allow for some face to face conversation and catch up with each of you before the end of the school year, and an opportunity to talk about the return to school in September. Your child’s coach will arrange a time and date that is suitable between now and the end of term.

Meet Your Coach – Years 6 – 11

On Tuesday 14th July all coaches from Trueman and Bremner houses will be available from 1pm – 7pm for pre-booked appointments. On Wednesday 15th July coaches from Robinson and Tomlinson houses will be available at the same times (1pm – 7pm) again for pre-booked appointments only.

It is important that you arrange a time with your child’s coach as we are unable to support appointments without a pre-arranged time. Your child’s coach will be in touch shortly to arrange a convenient appointment time and we look forward to being able to share with you information about our autumn term, to enable you to collect a summer activity pack for your child as well as offer advice and guidance about your child’s progress and next academic year.

This is an important opportunity for us to meet together and we look forward to welcoming you safely into school.

Friday 17th July

School will be closed on Friday 17th July to allow us to bring staff back before the start of the autumn term for essential training. It is imperative that staff can plan and prepare together for the autumn term and will also be joining together before the start of the autumn term to ensure that we facilitate a smooth return to school for all. Thank you for your support for this.

Summer activities

We will be offering some school contact to pupils in year groups that have not yet attended school sessions with their year group, as well as supporting a transition summer school for pupils joining our Year 7 cohort.  More details of this will follow.

School meal vouchers will continue to be provided for those eligible families and we continue to give books, games and additional learning materials where needed. Please contact your child’s coach if you would like more information about how to access this support.

September 2020

The plans for September are awaiting final guidance and information from the government. We are aware that the government have pledged to have all pupils in all year groups back in school in September. We are very much looking forward to welcoming all our children back in school, and we will share with you the plans to do this safely and effectively once this additional guidance has been shared with schools. We are confident that from our experience through our work with pupils and families both remotely and on site these past 14 weeks that we will be able to RESTORE our school community safely and effectively.

We appreciate that this remains a difficult and challenging time for us all. Should you have any additional questions or queries, please contact your child’s coach.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Yours sincerely

Simon Flowers
