As of 2019, almost all GCSE results will use the new 9 – 1 grading scale which has replaced the old A*-G system, with 9 being the highest grade. The new system has been gradually phased in since 2017.
The examinations are linear GCSEs, with assessments taken at the end of the course in June. There will be re-sit opportunities in November for English Language and Mathematics only.
Pupils will be assessed by external exam only, except where non-exam assessment is the only way to provide valid assessment of the skills required. English Literature, English Language, and Mathematics will be externally assessed.
Examinations will only be split into foundation and higher tiers in certain subjects, including Mathematics. English Literature and English Language will be untiered.
During the exam season, exam timetables are printed in our Coaching Chronicle, which is distributed to pupils during Coaching sessions. A copy of this (the At A Glance version) is also emailed to all parents/carers.
Please see below a link to the JCQ website, which now contains information for candidates. These documents have been handed to pupils, as it is now a requirement that pupils receive this information.
