Social Action for Jane Tomlinson Appeal

Thank you to Ahead Partnership for their lovely article about our pupils involvement in the Social Action for Jane Tomlinson Appeal project.

Leeds charity Jane Tomlinson Appeal challenged 20 students from Carr Manor School to come up with a brand new fundraising idea as part of a Social Action project we've been running with the school. The event, activity or idea had to raise both money and awareness within the school about the charity. This was a chance for students to get creative, take initiative, develop business skills, and make a difference in the community.

The charity was there along the way to explain how they use fundraising money to benefit families and services supporting people with cancer. There was also support from business coaches at law firm Capsticks who helped the students to develop their ideas and host a presentation workshop.

Careers Fair

On Wednesday 31st January we held a Careers Fair with Ahead Partnership, for pupils in Years 5, 8, 9, 10 and 11.  Over 25 businesses attended, and they spoke about the different education and career paths that are available to pupils when they leave school.

Some of the organisations who attended include Appris, ITV, Royal Air Force and the University of Law.

There were lots of positive comments from the businesses, saying;"The pupils were well engaged and were asking excellent questions, but at the same time listened really well." Some of the businesses thought that pupils had been prepped prior to the event, due to the kind of questions being asked.
