Arium Garden Centre Project

Our Reception Class have been taking part in an art project as part of the opening of The Arium garden centre.

Reception pupils were involved with creating some fantastic art work which will be permanently featured at the garden centre!

Well done to all those involved with such an exciting project!

HSBC Tall Ships Voyage

Ten pupils in Year 11 took part in the HSBC Voyage of Achievement on the Stavros S.Niarchos ship!

The ship set sail from Poole, Dorset and sailed via the Isle of Wight, Boulogne in France and then down the River Thames to Canary Wharf.

It was a fantastic opportunity for the pupils as during their time on board they were setting the sails, helping maintain the vessel, taking it in turns to keep watch, recording the sea and air temperatures and even had the chance to climb the masts.

As pupils sailed down the River Thames, they were met with lots of media coverage and there was even a live stream of them passing under London Bridge.

Why not visit the Tall Ships website to read some blog entries that pupil wrote whilst on the ship.

Sports Awards 2017

We held our Sports Awards on Wednesday 27th September and invited two special guests, Kadeena Cox, who won gold medals in cycling and sprinting at the Paralympics in 2016, and Matty Lee, ex Carr Manor pupil and world silver medallist in diving.

Kadeena met with both primary and secondary pupils and gave some of the younger ones tips on their running techniques, before answering questions about her career and training regime to some of our most sporty pupils who were really appreciative of the time she spent with them.

The Sports Awards were an opportunity for pupils to reflect on the last year of sport in school, with a highlights video that reminded them of all their achievements.

Pupils were given awards for being involved in a variety of sports, such as basketball, table tennis, football, rounders and climbing. The team of the year award went to the Year 7 athletics team, as nominated by the PE staff for their commitment, progress and achievements throughout the course of the year.

Reanna Stephens, Year 11 and Piotr Piekara, Year 10, were awarded with Sports People of the Year, as voted for by the pupils involved in the ceremony.

All the awards were presented to pupils by Matty Lee as he congratulated them on their successes.

Kadeena, who gave an inspiring and emotional speech to open the awards ceremony, left ceremony on a positive note, saying “the atmosphere at this school is amazing and it was a pleasure to be invited. There are so many talented pupils so good luck to them all.”

Well done to all pupils who were involved with the awards ceremony and we look forward to another fantastic year of sport!
