Leeds Plate Championship

On Thursday 3rd November the Year 9 rugby squad played against schools across Leeds and Hunslet in the under 14 boys plate competition. After successfully beating off competition from Woodkirk Academy and St Mary’s Menston, the boys were crowned the Leeds and Hunslet Under 14 Plate Winners.

The Rugby team then competed in the Leeds Rugby School Finals against Corpus Christi, Abbey Grange and Brigshaw. After some excellent tackling and pure determination from all the boys, Carr Manor finished joint second overall in Leeds. Well done to all those involved and it’s a brilliant achievement the rugby team should all be proud of.

Visitors from Holland

On Wednesday 23rd November, we were visited by Bert Brand and Rieneke Brand from Zwolle, Holland.

They were very impressed with the pupils that they met in the Restorative Practice circles and the discussions which took place on the day.

Our pupils were fantastic ambassadors for the school and it was lovely to welcome these visitors into Carr Manor.

Martyn Moxon Visit

On Wednesday 9th November, Trueman House were lucky enough to have a visit from Cricket player, coach and director Martyn Moxon.

Martyn is a fantastic ambassador and role model for Trueman House, playing Cricket for Yorkshire and England, moving on to coach Yorkshire and now working as Director for Professional Cricket for Yorkshire.

Trueman House captains introduced Martyn to Carr Manor and informed him about Trueman House and our successes. He then joined in with a Cricket session with Year 4 pupils and gave a few 'professional' tips to improve skills and performance! House captains then delivered a question and answer session with Martyn before he spoke in the House assembly about his cricketing career and the opportunities and experiences this has provided him with.

Martyn was very impressed with Carr Manor, Trueman House and in particular Trueman House captains. He commented that it was "a very enjoyable day" and that Carr Manor is "an extremely impressive school which everyone should be proud of."

We very much look forward to working with Martyn again in the future.

School Of Engineering

Year 9 pupils from the School of Engineering ran a session with some Year 4 pupils, to show the children how to create geodesic domes out of cocktail sticks and sweets.

The older pupils were excellent role models and the younger pupils found the session really insightful.
