On Monday 14th March, Mike Tomlinson visited Carr Manor. Mike is the husband of Jane Tomlinson, who raised a substantial amount of money for multiple charities, such as Macmillan Cancer Support and Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice. To honour Jane’s achievements, we have our very own Tomlinson House.
During his visit, Mike met with one of our Tomlinson Coaching groups to understand how our Coaching system works. Mike enjoyed this very much and felt it was a fantastic opportunity for pupils and staff to interact more and build stronger relationships in school.
Mike then visited our Primary Phase, where the pupils eagerly asked him questions relating to the fundraising work he has been involved with. They also took part in some practical activities in sports hall, which Mike thoroughly enjoyed watching.
The Tomlinson House Captains and Vice Captains then met with Mike, where they discussed how the Tomlinson House logo was designed. They discussed the breast cancer symbol which has been incorporated into the logo, to represent the work that Jane did for the charity.
Mike offered some fantastic ideas to our Tomlinson pupils as to how they can raise money during their Charity Week, which is taking place later this year.
It was a pleasure having Mike visit us and a valuable experience for all staff and pupils involved.
