Starting as soon as possible
Term Time Only (37 hours per week) + 10 days
Carr Manor Community School (CMCS) is a maintained ‘all through’ school with children aged 4-19. We are very proud of our caring and inclusive reputation and have an extremely strong team of professionals committed to developing and delivering a broad curriculum More recently we have also welcomed the challenges and opportunities of providing leadership to another High School in Leeds and we are looking forward to further developing this, and other partnerships, over the forthcoming months and years.
We are now looking to appoint a Learning Support Worker who has the tenacity, skills and flexibility to work in a fast moving environment and the passion to help our children in both phases to progress and develop. The successful candidate will have Maths and English GCSE, grade C or above, strong IT skills, well developed organisational and communication skills and a basic understanding of child development and learning strategies. An awareness of special educational needs and disabilities, particularly autism and speech and language would be useful. The post holder will be expected to undertake a wide range of duties including: supporting pupils’ learning and overall well-being; assisting teachers and other colleagues in the classroom and in small group interventions; recording and collating information; developing good relationships with parents/carers, colleagues and partner organisations; preparing classroom resources, equipment and materials; and supporting the implementation of whole school strategies, including literacy, our Coaching programme and House system, after school clubs, further and flexible learning, duty and invigilation duties.
It is essential that the post holder shares our school ethos which is firmly rooted in a restorative approach and the following values: to ‘Know our children well’: to be ‘Partners in Learning’: to develop ‘Character for Learning’; to ‘Enjoy and Achieve’. We firmly believe that in order to move forwards we need to be prepared and able to ‘do things differently and do different things’. We work restoratively with pupils, families and with each other to maintain the ‘strong community culture with a very strong inclusive ethos’ that Ofsted recognised when they visited us in June 2018.
We significantly invest in the development and training of all colleagues who are equally happy to share their expertise, skills and knowledge across the organisation. If you are looking to be stretched and challenged within a positive and creative staff team and you have a genuine desire to make a positive difference to our children, please submit an application form, covering letter and CV to firstname.lastname@example.org, by noon on Friday 30th November 2018. Please visit our website www.carrmanor.org.uk or telephone on 0113 336400 for any further details.
We promote diversity and want a workforce which reflects the population of Leeds. This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All successful applications will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring check and satisfactory references. “The school’s four key values permeate throughout the entire school and underpin everything the staff and pupils do.” (Ofsted, June 2018)
